Care & Use Instructions
Avoid tapping, impacting, or dropping your tool. Tungsten carbide is an extremely hard material which is great for durability and abrasion resistance, however it also means that it is brittle. It is susceptible to failure if dropped or impacted against a hard surface.
Store separately to avoid it bumping into other tools in your kit.
Store dry. To extend the life of the tool grip, avoid leaving your tungsten carbide tool immersed in water.
Clean-up with a damp sponge or cloth, just as you would with your other pottery tools.
Because of the sharp edge, a carbide trimming tool works best when trimming drier leatherhard clay. If excessive chattering occurs, give your piece some additional drying time before trimming. Alternatively, adjust the angle and position of the tool relative to the surface you are trimming, and/or the speed of the wheel during trimming.
Your tungsten carbide pottery trimming tool will remain sharp over several months of regular use. Should you feel the need to sharpen the edge, this can be done by using a fine diamond file.
